Conducted by Oloonkolin Foundation in collaboration with local partners Namunyak Opticians and Ndinda Foundation
In June, July, and August 2025, a large-scale eye screening was carried out among primary school children in Narok. This screening was conducted by the Oloonkolin Foundation, in collaboration with local partners Namunyak Opticians and the Ndinda Foundation. The activities took place at Olamayiana Primary School and at Namunyak Opticians. The aim was to detect and treat eye problems among children at an early stage, thereby improving their academic performance and general well-being.
Methodology
The program was implemented through a structured approach, consisting of the following steps:
- Preparation & community mobilization:
The organizing team engaged local leaders such as village managers, chiefs, religious leaders, teachers, and parents to build community support and encourage active participation. - Sensitization of teachers and pupils:
Before the screening activities, teachers and pupils were educated about the importance of eye care, the screening process, and the benefits of early detection treatment. - Resource Mobilization:
Oloonkolin Foundation, Namunyak Opticians, and the Ndinda Foundation jointly ensured the availability of all necessary materials, including medication, lenses and frames, screening equipment, a generator, and educational materials.

- To provide treatment, including corrective glasses and medication, to pupils diagnosed with vision problems.
